Foundation Funding for LGBTQ Communities
Publication date:
May, 2022
Funders for LGBTQ Issues works to increase the scale and impact of philanthropic resources aimed at enhancing the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities, promoting equity, and advancing racial, economic and gender justice.
While many believe the questionnaire is still discriminatory, it’s now easier than ever before for LGBTQ+ community members to donate blood. On May 11, 2023, the FDA eased restrictions on blood donations from gay and bisexual men, among other groups traditionally facing higher risks of HIV. The FDA no longer broadly excludes gay and bisexual people from donating blood and has moved to a more targeted questionnaire about an individual's sexual history.
