Every other year, in our off-conference cycle, IPA hosts Regional Forums—high-impact gatherings where we spotlight successful philanthropic initiatives from our members. These events bring together philanthropy and community partners to explore proven solutions to universal challenges and uncover strategies for scaling impact across Indiana.
In 2025, IPA Regional Forums focus on economic mobility—examining how philanthropy can break down barriers and create pathways to prosperity for Hoosier families. Each event showcases a local initiative tackling economic mobility through education, early childhood development, and family support, offering practical insights that can be replicated in communities statewide.
Why Economic Mobility?
Economic mobility in the United States has been steadily declining, creating significant challenges for individuals and communities. While 90% of Americans born in 1940 earned more than their parents, this figure has dropped to just 50% for those born in the 1980s. To reverse this trend, we must address the structural barriers limiting opportunities for families and children.
Why Economic Mobility Matters
Economic mobility refers to an individual’s ability to improve their income and quality of life over time. It’s a cornerstone of the American Dream, but today, the opportunities for upward mobility are shrinking. By addressing key factors such as early education and childcare, we can empower individuals and strengthen communities.
Why Attend?
IPA’s Regional Forums are more than just events—they are dynamic, solutions-focused gatherings that equip philanthropic leaders with actionable models for impact. Each forum is designed to:
- Spotlight high-impact philanthropic initiatives that are addressing critical community challenges.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing so we can adapt and replicate successful models.
- Explore collaborative approaches that strengthen economic mobility.
