Why Economic Mobility?

Economic mobility in the United States has been steadily declining, creating significant challenges for individuals and communities. While 90% of Americans born in 1940 earned more than their parents, this figure has dropped to just 50% for those born in the 1980s. To reverse this trend, we must address the structural barriers limiting opportunities for families and children.

Why It Matters

Economic mobility refers to an individual’s ability to improve their income and quality of life over time. It’s a cornerstone of the American Dream, but today, the opportunities for upward mobility are shrinking. By addressing key factors such as early education and childcare, we can empower individuals and strengthen communities.

Why Attend?

IPA’s Regional Forums are more than just events—they are dynamic, solutions-focused gatherings that equip philanthropic leaders with actionable models for impact. Each forum is designed to:

  • Spotlight high-impact philanthropic initiatives that are addressing critical community challenges.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing so we can adapt and replicate successful models.
  • Explore collaborative approaches that strengthen economic mobility.

Who Should Attend?

These forums are designed for philanthropists, community leaders, educators, and policymakers dedicated to driving meaningful change in their regions.
