We believe philanthropy has a unique ability to innovate, incubate, and deliver results. Importantly, philanthropic co-investment and partnership across all sectors leverages private resources to benefit communities in Indiana and beyond.

Our Advocacy Work Falls Into Three Areas:

  • Inform members about public policy impacting philanthropy and the nonprofit sector
  • Educate policymakers about the work of foundations
  • Advocate for public policies that promote the health and vitality of the philanthropic sector and its role in building strong communities

2025 IPA Public Policy Agenda

Our public policy agenda helps members engage with policymakers on critical reforms.

Government Relations

IPA is your behind-the-scenes partner in navigating government systems to help philanthropy get things done. Whether you're advancing a local initiative or working toward sector-wide change, we connect the dots and open doors—so you don’t have to.

We work with executive branch leaders and elected officials to:

  • Influence regulatory and administrative changes that impact grantmaking
  • Identify opportunities for philanthropic voices on boards, commissions, and advisory groups
  • Secure access to public grant opportunities and inter-agency collaborations
  • Facilitate partnerships that align state priorities with community investments

If government—or changes in government—could help move your work forward, reach out. You bring the vision; IPA will figure out the path and take action wherever we can.

See All

As a member of IPA since 2007, I’ve seen tremendous impact by IPA for not only its members and our missions, but to philanthropy as a whole. Indiana continues to lead the way in the Midwest and IPA is a major part of that impact.
