This webinar will highlight approaches to building an investment portfolio with a focus on racial and gender justice and supporting equitable economic development. Investing with a lens on race and gender are more important now than ever and will require better approaches by investors around decision making, implicit bias and structural barriers to achieve strong impact and returns. In light of the unfolding pandemic and the associated economic destabilization, it is tempting to pull away from unfamiliar ways of investing. However the structural faults in our status quo have become ever more obvious and illuminates the necessity of redeploying capital for stronger and more stable portfolios.

How can investing in public and private markets improve the health, education, economic empowerment, safety and rights of women and people of color? Is there a correlation between investment returns and social impact? Learn how foundations that are committed to social change are uniquely poised to address these issues in their investments through divestment, reinvestment and shareholder advocacy. Later this year we plan to offer a second program focused on implementation. Zoom information will be sent via email in advance of the Webinar.

This webinar is jointly hosted by Philanthropy Massachusetts and Zevin Asset Management.

Speakers include:

  • Sonia Kowal, President, Zevin Asset Management
  • Julianne Zimmerman, Reinventure Capital
  • Erika Seth Davies, Racial equity advocate, impact investing thought leader
