The Fulton County Community Foundation (FCCF) held an Open House on November 27th in celebration of #GivingTuesday. During the event, gifts totaled nearly $92,000. More than half this amount was given to community funds, which will be matched $2 for $1 by Lilly Endowment Inc., bringing the grand total of dollars raised to more than $199,000.

“This event was not just for kicking off the season of giving. It was also a way to celebrate all our donors have accomplished in the past year and the past 25 years. We wanted to thank those who have made it all possible,” said Brian Johnson, FCCF Director of Development.

During the open house, guests enjoyed a “Year in Review” video celebrating the more than $680,000 awarded in grants and scholarships in 2018 alone. The event was covered by a live broadcast with WROI station manager Tom Bair and on air personality Paul Zartman. On air interviews included Brian Johnson, Northern Indiana Community Foundation Executive Director Jay Albright, and Community Foundation board members Douglas Morton and Larry Cunningham. Pat and Robin Burkett of Log House Restaurant catered the event with lunch and holiday treats throughout the day.

#GivingTuesday is a global initiative. This year alone, more than $300 million was raised online in more than 115 countries. The social media tag encourages individuals, families, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations to share with one another how they’re making a difference on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It also encourages the donation of time, resources, and talents to address local need. #GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of the generosity of people around the world to bring real change in their communities.

The Fulton County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) public trust. The mission of the Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life in our communities by assisting donors in fulfilling their charitable wishes. We do this by building endowment funds for our communities with contributions, both large and small.
