(Allen County, Indiana) To celebrate its 60th Anniversary, Follinger Foundation has developed several special strategic grant opportunities. One of those is the Breakthrough Fund—a half-million dollar initiative to support people-focused ideas that create a significant and positive impact on the residents of Allen County.

Foellinger Foundation seeks to positively influence the quality of life in Allen County by encouraging and supporting ideas that help residents lead fulfilling and connected lives. The Breakthrough Fund is all about people. Nonprofit organizations and other partners from throughout our community are invited to collaboratively propose concepts that identify opportunity and creatively address a social challenge our community faces.

Foellinger Foundation’s Breakthrough Fund catalyzes innovative ideas that are brought to life by new collaborations. These concepts, developed with creative thinking, achieve “breakthrough” status when they significantly and positively impact residents. Several ideas may receive support for Refine Phase development; one or more may be funded through the Realize Phase.

The Foundation’s board has allocated funds towards this two-phase initiative. Organizations who apply for funds in the Refine Phase are those who have a solid idea and are seeking funds to refine that idea and develop an implementation plan. The remaining funds will be dedicated for projects that reach the Realize Phase, the period of initial implementation of ideas, if applicable.

Organizations must collaborate on their applications. The lead applicant must be a 501(c)(3) Allen County nonprofit organization that provides direct charitable services. Applications for the Refine Phase are due May 16, 2018 and will be reviewed to determine if the submitted ideas are important, feasible, measurable and sustainable.

Breakthrough Fund recipient(s) will be announced in late August as part of a 60th Anniversary Celebration. More information regarding the celebration will be announced at a later time.

“We look forward to the creativity and audacity of the applicants as they imagine new ideas to create a large-scale impact,” says Foellinger Foundation President Cheryl Taylor.
