Western Indiana Community Foundation Announces New CEO

The Western Indiana Community Foundation has named Taylor Powell as its next CEO, building on outgoing CEO Dale White’s decades of strong, steady leadership as the organization prepares for a seamless transition in 2026.

The Western Indiana Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Taylor Powell has been named its new Chief Executive Officer.

Powell and his family have become deeply rooted in the Covington community, where they have lived since 2018. He and his wife, Katherine, are raising their three children locally, and actively participate in area activities, schools, and youth programs. Powell has also dedicated his time and leadership to several community-focused organizations, including serving as Vice President of Marilyn’s Village, President of the Covington Citizens’ Scholarship, and as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Finance Committee.

“The Foundation has been very successful and has impacted the area in many different ways. I am most looking forward to continued growth and new opportunities to strengthen the communities we serve,” said Powell. “I’m excited to collaborate with the many organizations working across Fountain and Vermillion counties. The Foundation’s success is due to Dale, our staff, our current and former boards, and—most importantly—the generosity of our donors. By expanding our donor base, introducing new initiatives, and relying on the wisdom of our board members, I believe we can achieve exponential growth and lasting impact in the years ahead.”

In addition to his community involvement, Powell brings strong professional experience to his new role. Originally from Tipton, Indiana, he graduated early from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in December of 2017 and began his legal career at Wallace Law Firm in Covington the following spring. Over the past eight years, he has developed significant leadership skills and a deep understanding of the community he proudly calls home. His professional background, paired with his experience on the Foundation’s Executive Board and Finance Committee, positions him well to lead the Foundation into its next chapter.

“We are excited to have Taylor come on board as the new CEO.  His desire to learn, serve, and invest his time and talents in Fountain and Vermillion counties is evident in his current community volunteering and excitement about the community development opportunities within the foundation.  Taylor has a real passion for helping people and working on projects to help better our communities,” said Megan Ellmore, Western Indiana Community Foundation President.

Powell will assume the role of CEO in mid-February 2026, joining the Foundation with a deep commitment to advancing its mission of strengthening communities for generations to come. Current CEO Dale White, who announced his planned transition in April, will formally conclude his tenure on March 31, 2026. This intentional overlap ensures a smooth and thoughtful handoff of leadership.

"I believe Taylor Powell is an excellent choice to build upon the strong foundation established over the past 35 years," said White. "Taylor is driven, community-focused, smart, and family-centered. I look forward to working with him to ensure a successful transition."
