This summer, 48 Resident Service Coordinators supported residents at 54 Glick Housing Foundation apartment communities across 12 states with onsite case management, tailored programming, and basic needs support.
Together, they worked to:
- Engage 1,134 youth through summer enrichment programs,
- Prevent 184 evictions through proactive issue resolution, and
- Involve 113 adult residents in education programs.
One of those programs was the Success Center at Carriage House East’s partnership with Indy Summer Learning Labs to host children in grades 1-5 for a free, five-week summer learning experience filled with fun and enrichment activities. WRTV featured this video and article about the program.
Academically, the program addresses data from the state showing that less than half of the students are proficient in English language arts and math.
"We learned math and reading activities, and I got better at it," said participant Eryn Moore.
Shanna King, a parent whose children are attending Summer Learning Labs at the Success Center, emphasized the need for such educational environments.
"It’s the younger ones out there doing the crimes... if they had that environment to further their education, they wouldn’t be thinking about the streets," she said.
