BP Partners with Legacy Foundation for NWI Storm Relief Aid

The program will provide up to $5,000 per organization to assist in recovery from storm damage and strengthen preparedness for future weather-related emergencies.

Legacy Foundation, the community foundation serving Lake County, has partnered with the BP Foundation to launch the BP Foundation Community Fund Grant, supporting nonprofit and community organizations in Hammond, East Chicago, and Whiting recovering from the severe storms and flooding in August 2025.

The fund will provide grants of up to $5,000 per organization for storm-related repairs, recovery efforts, and disaster preparedness initiatives. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools, churches, local governments, and first responders located in the three affected communities.

The BP Foundation has contributed $30,000 to the fund, which Legacy Foundation will administer as part of its continued commitment to strengthening Lake County communities. Applications open October 13 and close November 21, 2025.
