Kelsey Harrington joined the George and Frances Ball Foundation team in 2018 where she currently serves as Program Impact Officer. In her role, she leads the impact and evaluation efforts of the Muncie-based organization's nearly $6 million in grantmaking each year. She also manages the Foundation’s strategic communications and facilitates the Foundation’s intermediary grantmaking as a ghost grantwriter and development lead. As a graduate of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Kelsey is passionate about community changemaking and civic engagement beyond her professional life. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce, Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, and Refugee Alliance of Delaware County. In her free time, she runs a slow fashion resale business, enjoys learning new hobbies, and these days, is soaking up special moments of being a first-time aunt to her niece.

George and Frances Ball Foundation

Thomas J. Kinghorn is the President and CEO of the George and Frances Ball Foundation. Previously, he was Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer of Ball State University from 1980 to 2009. He served in various capacities at the University starting in 1966, including 10 years as the University’s representative to the Indiana General Assembly. Most of the physical development of Ball State’s campus took place during his tenure. As part of his university responsibilities, he served on the Ball State University Foundation Board of Directors from 1980 to 2012. 

Mr. Kinghorn is an active leader in the Muncie and Delaware County community. During his tenure he has served on boards of the Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Country Club, Delaware Advancement Corporation, United Way, Muncie Action Plan and other regional and state-level organizations. He continues to focus on improving quality of life and place, in addition to a proactive focus of increasing educational attainment in an effort to drive greater prosperity for children and families living in Muncie and Delaware County.

Anand R. Marri, Ph.D., serves as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ball State University. As Provost, he oversees all aspects of our academic mission, including supporting leadership for all academic units. He plays a crucial role in developing and implementing our strategic plan and educational innovation. He started his service at Ball State as Dean of Teachers College (TC) in July 2020. Anand’s academic research focuses on economic literacy, civic education, teacher education, and urban education. He has been published in many leading education journals and quoted in major publications such as the Dallas Morning News, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and CNN. 

He has succeeded in winning over $12.5 million in grants and contracts from individuals and organizations such as the Indiana Department of Education, the New York State Department of Education, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the Spencer Foundation, Teachers College Columbia University Trustee Joyce Cowin, Teagle Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education. 

Anand previously held senior faculty and leadership positions at Teachers College, Columbia University, the University of Rochester, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a master’s degree from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College.

Tammy Pearson’s life passion is storytelling. For years, she nurtured that passion as a community journalist through written and visual storytelling. Today, she uses that drive to lead initiatives that give students the power to write their own life stories. As President & CEO, Tammy’s favorite word is hope, and she leads Project Leadership’s innovative team with students at the heart of each initiative. Years (and years) ago, Tammy left the rural community in which she was raised to study journalism and psychology at Ball State University and has worked in East Central Indiana for the past three decades.

Dr. Charles “Chuck” Reynolds has been in education for 27 years and currently serves as the Director of Public Education and CEO for the Muncie Community School in Indiana. Dr. Reynolds completed his Bachelors in Instrumental and General Music Education, Master of Arts, Educational Specialists and Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership from Ball State University. During his free time, Chuck enjoys performing in the church praise band and serving on several committees and boards across the state a number of those are music and performing arts organizations.

Before returning to the Muncie Community School in 2019, Chuck served as the Assistant Superintendent for the Richmond Community Schools. Prior to his tenure in Richmond, Dr. Reynolds served the Muncie Community Schools as the Principal at Wilson Middle School, Associate Principal at Muncie Central and Muncie Southside High School, Assistant Principal at Wilson Middle School, and instrumental music teacher at Muncie Southside High School and Wilson Middle School.

Born and raised in Delaware County, Indiana, Elizabeth is one of its biggest cheerleaders. Continuing its excellence and growth is her passion and she considers doing that through the Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Alliance an honor and privilege.

Elizabeth joined the Chamber and Economic Development Alliance in 2022 as the Chief Economic Development Officer, President & CEO. 

She has previously worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as well as for an Indiana Congressman on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. She is a graduate of Ball State University (ChirpChirp!) and Muncie Burris High School. She completed the four-year U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management program with an IOM Designation and completed the four-year Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute program. Elizabeth has been an active volunteer in the Muncie and Delaware County communities, including the Yorktown School Board, Muncie Rotary, and Cradle to Career program. She is also a State Representative elected in District #35 and serves on the Ways and Means Cmte, the Commerce and Small Business Cmte, and the Family and Children Cmte.

Elizabeth resides in Yorktown, IN with her Handsome Husband, three (mostly) wonderful children, and their golden retriever, Max, who is the goodest of all good boys, but hogs the bed.

Jeffrey D. Scott joined Ivy Tech in 2001 as an adjunct faculty member and has since advanced to roles including Program Chair, Dean, and now Chancellor. He has led statewide integration efforts, focusing on innovation, student success, and workforce alignment.

As Chancellor, Scott led a $43 million campus revitalization transforming the Muncie-Henry County campus and downtown Muncie, bringing nearly 2,500 students and staff to the area. Additionally, he helped establish Chesterfield’s Café, a culinary arts lab fostering learning and community engagement. Scott collaborates with local organizations like Next Muncie and the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, driving initiatives such as WorkMatters to raise wages and strengthen Ivy Tech’s industry partnerships.

Scott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Ball State University and a Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University. Before Ivy Tech, he held leadership positions in probation, court services, and juvenile/behavioral treatment agencies.

Scott is active in the community, serving on several boards. He also cherishes time with his wife, Melissa, and their family, which includes four children and seven grandchildren. As a Disney enthusiast, Scott enjoys traveling, cooking, and creating memories with loved ones.

Chris Walker is the Principal at Muncie Central High School and has served in this role since July 1, 2016. Chris graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1998 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in 2003 in Social Studies Education. Chris started his teaching career in the Indianapolis Public Schools in August of 2003 as a World Geography teacher at George Washington High School. Chris was hired as the Director of Athletics at GWHS in 2005 and served the next 9 years as an AD at three different high schools. Chris earned his Master of Arts degree in December of 2014 from Butler University. Prior to coming to Muncie Central, Chris served as the Associate Principal at Marion High School. In December of 2022 Chris earned an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree from Ball State University. Chris has been married to his wife Katie, a fellow BSU graduate in 2000, for 24 years. They have 3 children who are proud Bearcats. Tyler is a 2021 graduate, Tate is a 2024 graduate, and Grace is a rising senior in the Class of 2026.

Kortney Zimmerman is the Senior Program Officer for the George and Frances Ball Foundation. She is a two-time graduate of Ball State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and a Master’s degree in Education Administration and Supervision. Before joining the George and Frances Ball Foundation, Kortney served as a Community Wellness Coordinator with Purdue Extension for two and a half years and was a high school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher for seven years. She currently resides in Muncie, IN with her husband, son, and two dogs. Her favorite sport is volleyball, and she enjoys spending her free time with family, attending concerts, and traveling.
