Tour Glick's Affordable Housing Solution

TIME: 7:45 am - 11:30 am (arrive promptly to board the shuttle)

The health of our neighbors and the strength of our communities rely on quality affordable housing. Unfortunately, in Indiana alone, there is a shortage of 139,318 rental homes that are affordable and available for extremely low-income renters. On top of that, 76% of extremely low-income renter households in Indiana are severely cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than half of their income on housing. During this field trip hosted with Glick Philanthropies, we’ll visit the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. We’ll start our discussion by understanding the state of affordable housing in Indiana, including the need for more rental homes. Then, we’ll explore creative philanthropic solutions, including financing affordable housing and creating partnerships with direct-service nonprofits in your community to best support residents of affordable housing. In addition to speakers from Glick Philanthropies, affordable housing industry experts, direct-service nonprofit peers, and resident leaders will participate in the panel discussions.

E-Bike or Walking Tour of the Cultural Trail

Join our guided e-bike or walking tours to experience the world-class Indianapolis Cultural Trail—all without breaking a sweat! For those choosing to ride, the pedal-assist feature on your electric bike allows you to cover more ground with less effort and tour some of the city’s most famous landmarks while taking in the scenic beauty. Whether you walk or ride, you’ll learn about the philanthropic and community support that created and sustains this major community asset that spans the city. The trail connects five cultural districts, including the White River State Park, Fountain Square, and Mass Ave. More than just a trail, the Cultural Trail supports a variety of programming that engages residents and visitors. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick was established with the leadership of Brian Payne and the Central Indiana Community Foundation. Lilly Endowment Inc. made a $20 million grant to support the trail’s expansion in 2020.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Helmets – ICT can bring helmets if you desire. However, helmets are not required. Reach out to IPA if you would like to request a helmet. Attire – Wear tennis shoes or, at minimum, footwear that is comfortable for walking/biking a few miles.
