Community Foundation of Whitley County Announces Spring / Summer Grants

Thanks to the continued generosity of donors past and present, the Whitley County Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently awarded over $100,000 in grants to local organizations working to better Whitley County.  We are proud to support the following causes:

• 2nd Floor Gallery Studio, $1,100 to offer a summer arts day camp, made possible by the Donna Harl Fund
• A Hope Center, $14,000 toward the costs of providing an on-staff nurse, made possible by the Whitley County Giving Circle for Women’s Health
• American Red Cross, $5,000 to support their Home Fire Relief Program in Whitley County, made possible in part by the Don & Jane Langeloh Community Fund
• BABE, $10,000 to support their work with young mothers and families, made possible in part by the David & Barbara Bilger Family Fund and the Don & Sharlene Berkshire Community Fund
• Brightpoint, $5,000 to support their Cover Kids and Families insurance assistance program, made possible in part by the Charl & Karen Bandelier Community Fund
• Camp Whitley, $5,200 to purchase kayaks and kayak racks, made possible in part by the James R. and Kathleen M. Heuer Community Fund
• Churubusco Childcare, $6,000 to support Summer Program for school age children and a raised garden, made possible in part by the Dekko Childcare Fund
• Columbia City Connect, $10,000 to be used as a challenge match to support marketing, made possible in part by the Jack & Judy Moore Community Fund and the Greg & Ann Fahl Community Fund
• Columbia City United Methodist Church Early Learning Center, $5,000 to offset meal costs, made possible in part by the Dekko Childcare Fund
• Erin’s House, $5,000 to support grief services for Whitley County children, made possible in part by the Andy & Toni More Community Fund
• The Forklift, $5,000 toward the cost of food, made possible in part by the Jean & Roger Long Community Fund
• Girl Scouts of America, $3,000 toward program costs in Whitley County, made possible by the Rosemary Steiner Community Fund
• Honeywell Foundation, $4,000 toward a bullying prevention and songwriting workshop for Whitley County Schools, made possible by the Jerry Busche Family Fund
• Honor Flight, $6,000 to help underwrite expenses for veteran’s Honor Flights, made possible in part by the Clark Waterfall DVM Fund
• Hope’s Harbor, $5,000 to provide basic care for new mothers with children in NICU, made possible in part by the Lake City Bank Community Fund
• Matthew 25, $3,000 to underwrite a portion of costs for providing services to Whitley County residents, made possible in part by the Ferber Family Fund
• Ronald McDonald House, $5,000 to support services offered to Whitley County families made possible in part by the Tim & Beth Bloom Community Fund
• Youth for Christ, $9,000 toward the costs of Whitley County programs, made possible by the Gary & Ann Dillon Community Fund and the Pamela S. McCoy Fund in Memory of Russel and Evelyn Fahl 

The Community Foundation of Whitley County is a non-profit public charity working to inspire philanthropy in three ways: We help people make their charitable gifts more impactful, we connect funding to effective non-profits such as those listed above, and we provide leadership to address community needs.
