Field Trip: Visit Glick's Affordable Housing and Community Support Center (Pre-Registration Required)

PRE-REGISTER HERE (FREE) - Space is limited!

The health of our neighbors and the strength of our communities rely on quality affordable housing and strong supports for residents. Unfortunately, in Indiana alone, there is a shortage of 139,318 rental homes that are affordable and available for extremely low-income renters. On top of that, 76% of extremely low-income renter households in Indiana are severely cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than half of their income on housing and need assistance to help meet their daily needs. This field trip––hosted with Glick Philanthropies––will visit the Success Center, a basic needs support, youth development, workforce development, and community engagement hub embedded within an affordable housing community on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. We’ll start our discussion by understanding the state of affordable housing in Indiana, including the need for more rental homes. Then, we’ll explore solutions for financing affordable housing.  A highlight of the visit will be learning about the creative partnerships with direct-service nonprofits that are supporting residents of affordable housing from within the community. In addition to speakers from Glick Philanthropies, affordable housing industry experts, direct-service nonprofit peers, and leaders who live within the housing community will participate in the panel discussions.

This field trip is made possible with generous support from Glick Philanthropies.
