United Cabinet Foundation Transitions to Dubois County Community Foundation
The United Cabinet Foundation has transitioned from a private foundation to an endowment of the Dubois County Community Foundation.
The transition came at the discretion of the United Cabinet Foundation board of directors as a natural succession after 52 years of operating as a private foundation.
Stanley Krempp founded United Cabinet Corporation in 1954. United Cabinet later became Aristokraft and now Masterbrand. Krempp founded the United Cabinet Foundation, a private charitable foundation, in 1970 to provide philanthropic support for local religious institutions and the arts.
“This transition has evoked wonderful memories of my father’s philanthropic work through the United Cabinet Foundation such as overseeing construction plans for The Arts Center, developing the Precious Blood Church Endowment and consulting with IU School of Music sound engineers on acoustics,” Jeanne Campbell, daughter of Stanley Krempp and United Cabinet Foundation board president, said.
“It is a true honor for the Community Foundation to continue the legacy of Stanley Krempp through the United Cabinet Endowment,” Clayton Boyles, DCCF executive director, said. “We look forward to working with the Krempp family as a partner in their philanthropic giving. The United Cabinet Endowment will continue to enrich our community and make an impact for generations to come."
The $10.5 million asset is the largest gift received by DCCF since the organization’s establishment in 1996.
While the United Cabinet Foundation will transition to the DCCF, its charitable focus and founders’ values will remain the same. All grant decisions will be at the recommendation of the appointed family members who will be the fund advisors.
“With a long-term vision of growth for Dubois County, my father focused on religious institutions and the arts, which he saw as underserved. Supporting these family-friendly interests would keep our strong values intact and attract business talent for local manufacturers,” Campbell said. “The idea was always to make Jasper and Dubois County a wonderful place to live."
The United Cabinet Endowment will generate approximately $400,000 in grants every year to bolster the arts and support religious institutions. “It is the depth of experience, dedication, and most importantly, the shared values with the Community Foundation board that made this transition possible,” Campbell said.
