In advance of calendar year budget season, IPA would like to remind members of the dues increase announced last December that will take place in January 2022. For the past eight years, IPA held dues steady despite increasing costs and greatly expanded services for members. In just the past two years, in response to requests made during a statewide membership listening tour, IPA has launched:

• All-Member Calls to quickly respond to unexpected urgent matters like COVID-19, racial unrest, and the American Rescue Plan Act.
• Issue Collaboratives which engage IPA members with high-ranking public officials, researchers, and innovators to partner on issues like health and workforce development.
• Peer Communities to bring members together to share best practices, overcome challenges, and enjoy camaraderie.
• Mutz Philanthropic Leadership Institute to develop a pipeline of senior executives and board members who are ready to fill the voids left as the massive generation of baby boomers retires.
• Public Policy Advocacy for issues that are important to the communities our members serve focused on issues like broadband and early childhood education.

Since our last dues update nearly ten years ago, much has changed in our organization, our sector, and in our world. By bringing people together across sectors and geographies with heightened purpose, IPA has more than doubled its member engagement and is reaching a broader range of philanthropic professionals. We are also offering five times as many learning and networking activities, while filling 20 times more seats. Furthermore, we are working harder to meet members where they are in communities across Indiana. In 2019, the last year before the pandemic, two-thirds of IPA programs were held outside of Indianapolis.

This year, IPA has seen record numbers of engagement and positive feedback from members. In the first half of 2021, 84% of members have already engaged in IPA's more than 80 learning and networking activities.

As leaders in the field, our members have set high expectations for us, and we continue to strive to better serve you. 

In IPA’s annual member satisfaction survey, 97% of respondents said they would recommend IPA to other organizations, and four out of five members felt IPA was very or extremely effective as a statewide association working for philanthropy. We are incredibly grateful for this support, but the work is only beginning.

We recognize the budgetary constraints all organizations face, which is why we made it a priority to give members one-year advance notice of the update and provide cost-saving options.

We do not make the decision to change our dues structure lightly—this update was benchmarked against other Indiana associations and our peer philanthropy serving organizations in other states. It has been examined closely by our staff, IPA member volunteers, and the Board of Directors who all determined this move was appropriate, reasonable, and the best direction for IPA and our members. Below, you will see our 2022 dues structure.

The rates shown above are applicable to all members who are not individuals or professional advisors. Amounts are based on total annual philanthropic giving. For members headquartered outside of Indiana, dues are based on philanthropic giving within Indiana. This dues structure accounts for rate of inflation since the previous dues adjustment.
