Clowes Fund Supports Immigrant Justice, Child Welfare in Indianapolis
The Clowes Fund, Inc., a family foundation established in Indianapolis in 1952, has announced its grant distributions for the 2019 funding cycle. More than $3 million was distributed to almost 90 nonprofit organizations in multiple states, including nearly $1.5 million in Indianapolis.
The foundation’s grantmaking priorities in Indianapolis include two social services foci and honoring the philanthropic legacy of its founding donors, which includes the Clowes Collection of art (Old Masters paintings). Within social services the foundation supports workforce development and services for immigrant, refugee and asylee populations.
Indiana grants paid in 2019 include $100,000 to the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic for its Immigrant Justice Program; $30,000 to Child Advocates for its Supporting Immigrant Children in the Child Welfare program; and $20,000 to Flanner House for its Farming, Education, Employment and Distribution (F.E.E.D) program.
