Community Foundation of Louisville’s 24-hour giving day returns Thursday, September 12

The Community Foundation of Louisville announces the 6th annual Give For Good Louisville will be held from midnight to 11:59 PM on Thursday, September 12. Nonprofits that wish to participate must register between June 3 and July 3 at www.giveforgoodlouisville.org. Last year’s giving day raised $5.4 million for over 500 local participating nonprofits, including over $160,000 for 37 Southern Indiana nonprofits. This year the Community Foundation hopes our region will raise over $6 million.

“This day is always one of the most powerful examples of our community rallying together to be a force for good,” said Susan Barry, President & CEO of the Community Foundation. “At the Foundation, we believe anyone can be a philanthropist. This day makes it possible for everyone to see how big of an impact we can have on our community, if we all just do a little.”

The redesigned website at www.giveforgoodlouisville.org has a fresh new look and better functionality to further improve the giving day experience. The Community Foundation and the giving day platform provider, GiveGab, have also teamed up to offer enhanced trainings and online video support. Included with this year’s participation fee, is access to a full-day nonprofit training on July 18 at the Louisville Central Community Center which will feature breakout sessions focused on maximizing tools to help nonprofits of all sizes successfully run giving day campaigns, peer-to-peer interaction, and a special keynote speaker. Additionally, nonprofits new to the giving day, can attend a giving day basics class held on June 26 at the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana in New Albany. Training resources can be found online at https://www.giveforgoodlouisville.org/info/trainings.

This year there are even more reasons for Southern Indiana to participate thanks to the support of three Southern Indiana-based foundations. The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana is offering a $20,000 proportionate match for Southern Indiana-based participating nonprofits based in Clark and Floyd counties. The Bales Foundation is offering a $10,000 proportionate match to organizations based in Clark and Floyd counties and the Horseshoe Foundation is offering a $25,000 proportionate match to organizations based in Floyd county.

Organizations based in these counties will be eligible to receive a proportionate share of the these match pools based on their overall amount of dollars raised, excluding other bonus or prizes they may receive. (e.g. 5% of the funds raised in S. Indiana = 5% of the corresponding proportionate match pool.)

“We’re looking to make our 6th year the best year yet,” said Jan Walther, Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the Community Foundation. “We’re always striving to make the Give For Good Louisville experience exceptional for donors and nonprofits alike. Whether it’s through improved technology, training, a robust prize pool, or our efforts to build community-wide momentum, we see Give For Good Louisville as the greatest celebration of our nonprofit community.”

Participation is open to nonprofits in Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Bullitt Counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd and Harrison Counties in Indiana. The participation fee will range anywhere between $25 and $75 depending on the size of the nonprofit. For detailed eligibility requirements and to register, visit www.giveforgoodlouisville.org.
