Arts Commission announces grant awards to community-based cultural providers
(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that 425 community-based arts providers and individual artists throughout Indiana will receive grants for Fiscal Year 2019.
During its June 15, 2018 Quarterly Business Meeting in Indianapolis, the Commission approved funding recommendations for Arts Organization Support (AOS-I; AOS-II; AOS-III), Arts Project Support (APS); Regional Arts Partner Block Grants to sub-grantees, and Regional Arts Partner and Project Support grants.
The Majority of the grants approved by the Commission, totaling more than $2.24 million, will be distributed through the IAC's 11 regions to small and mid-sized organizations through Regional Initiative Grants. Among these grants are AOS-I organizations including South Shore Dance Alliance, Griffith, IN ($5,834); Elkhart Civic Theatre, Bristol, IN ($5,572); Creative Arts Council of Wells County, Bluffton, IN ($6,807); Kokomo Park Band, Kokomo, IN ($6,053); Youth Symphony Orchestra of East Central Indiana, Muncie, IN ($5,893); Putnam County Playhouse, Greencastle, IN ($5,834); Asante Children's Theatre, Indianapolis, IN ($7,267); Quarryland Men's Chorus, Bloomington, IN ($5,834); Dearborn Highland Arts Council, Lawrenceburg, IN ($6,383); The Foundry Center for the Arts, Newburgh, IN ($6,807); and Clarksville Little Theatre, Clarksville, IN ($5,834). A total of $598,883 was awarded to AOS-I organizations.
Also among Regional Initiative Grants are AOS-II funded organizations including: LaPorte Symphony Orchestra, LaPorte, IN ($9,724); Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, Warsaw, IN ($17,985); Fort Wayne Children's Choir, Fort Wayne, IN ($9,724); Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, Lafayette, IN ($10,724); Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Muncie, IN ($12,700); Terre Haute Symphony Association, Terre Haute, IN ($9,724); Indianapolis Jazz Foundation, Indianapolis, IN ($9,305); Brown County Playhouse Management, Nashville, IN ($9,724); Columbus Pro Musica, Columbus, IN ($13,959); and Evansville African American Museum, Evansville, IN ($9,724). AOS-II organizations received a total of $962,075 from the Arts Commission.
Among APS grants awarded are Ballet Folklorico Tapatio Co. of Northwest Indiana, Portage, IN ($4,275); Fulton County Historical Society, Rochester, IN ($4,090); Children's Choir of Huntington County, Huntington, IN ($5,000); Tipton Community Theatre, Tipton, IN ($3,000); Richmond Shakespeare Festival, Richmond, IN ($5,000); CANDLES Holocaust Museum & Education Center, Terre Haute, IN ($4,230); Zionsville Cultural District, Zionsville, IN ($4,095); Area 10 Council on Aging of Monroe & Owen Counties, Ellettsville, IN ($5,000); Jackson County Community Theatre, Brownstown, IN ($5,000); Louis J. Koch Family Children's Museum of Evansville, Evansville, IN ($5,000); and North Harrison Band Boosters, Ramsey, IN ($5,000). APS organizations statewide received a total of $683,869.
Organizations such as Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Fort Wayne, IN ($34,632); Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Evansville, IN ($34,632); Indianapolis Children's Choir, Indianapolis, IN ($38,632), and the International Violin Competition, Indianapolis, IN ($34,632) are among 17 organizations receiving direct grants from the IAC through the AOS-III category. These organizations received a total of $573,280.
