Clowes Fund grants $2.7 million

(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Clowes Fund, Inc., a family foundation established in Indianapolis in 1952, has announced its grant distributions for the 2017 funding cycle. A total of approximately $2.7 million will be distributed to 79 nonprofit organizations in eight states, including nearly $800,000 in Indianapolis.

In Indianapolis, the foundation’s grantmaking priorities include two social services foci and honoring the philanthropic legacy of its founding donors, which includes the Clowes Collection of art (Old Masters paintings). Within social services, the foundation supports workforce development and services for immigrant, refugee, and asylee populations.

Indiana grants approved in 2017 include $30,000 to Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic for its Immigrant Justice Program; $45,000 to Indianapolis Congregation Action Network for its Immigrant and Refugee Inclusion Project; and $80,000 to Workforce, Inc. (dba RecycleForce) for its From Prisoner to Citizen Program.
