Muncie, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. has announced the availability of applications for grants through the Foundation’s Land Conservation Fund. The Land Conservation Fund was created to preserve and protect important conservation and recreation areas throughout Delaware County or those owned by Delaware County organizations by matching donations of land or dollars. Property acquired with Land Conservation Fund Grants will become part of the public trust to ensure that the land is protected for future generations of Hoosiers to use and enjoy.

Acquisition of property for conservation is the only project type eligible for grants from the Fund. The intent of the Land Conservation Fund is to organize collective applications to state and federal funding sources such as the Indiana Heritage Trust and potentially provide matching dollars for eligible land acquisition projects.

The deadline for the next round of Land Conservation Fund Grants is September 1, 2017.

Application forms will only be distributed to eligible organizations who have contacted the Foundation in advance. Interested applicants must contact Kelly K. Shrock, President of The Community Foundation to determine eligibility and plan for application. Private land owners interested in selling or donating land for conservation may also contact The Community Foundation.

The Land Conservation Fund supports the work of the Indiana Heritage Trust and is just one of the ways that The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County is helping to preserve and conserve land in and around Delaware County. The more than 300 acres secured in East Central Indiana will provide a lasting legacy for future generations.

An additional deadline for application in 2017 is December 1. For more information on The Land Conservation Fund, visit The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County website at www.cfmdin.org or contact Kelly K. Shrock, President, at 765-747-7181 or kshrock@cfmdin.org.
