Wayne County Foundation Provides $69K to Local Orgs through Vigran Family Foundation

Friday, October 21, 2022

The Wayne County Foundation is pleased to share that 29 local organizations have been awarded a total of $69,000 through the Vigran Family Foundation. Established at the Wayne County Foundation in 2001 by the late Stanley L. Vigran, the Vigran Family Foundation supports organizations that advance theater and the arts, higher education, healthcare, and Jewish causes.

Vigran was a local entrepreneur and civic leader in the community for many decades before his 2004 passing. He was heavily engaged with the development of then-Reid Hospital and is considered one of the founders of Indiana University East. He also served in leadership roles at the Richmond Family YMCA, Richmond Parks and Recreation, and the Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he also served as a longtime board member of the Wayne County Foundation.

“Richmond and Wayne County played such a pivotal role in the lives of my family,” said Gary Vigran, son of Stanley L. Vigran. “It is rewarding to see the great work that so many organizations are doing to support neighbors in need and the institutions that strengthen the community.  I know my parents would be proud of the spirit and dedication that so many are making to enhance Richmond and Wayne County. We are proud to carry on that legacy.”
