Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation Releases Community Data Snapshot One-Stop Shop for Data

This tool provides education, health, and vitality data about Indianapolis and the state

Did you know: 
•    Fentanyl was present in 86% of fatal Marion County drug poisonings (overdoses) in 2022?
•    15% of Marion County residents lived in poverty in 2023?
•    21% of Marion County eighth graders passed the ILEARN math assessment in 2024?

    
All of this data – and more – is available on a tool called the Community Data Snapshot (CDS), which offers a comprehensive view of local education, health, and vitality data. Built by the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, the CDS compiles information from a variety of trusted sources, with updates added as they become available.

The CDS is designed to help grantees, other foundations, civic leaders, and anyone living in Marion County better understand the critical issues impacting our city and state. Whether you are working to improve local conditions or seeking to understand the challenges and opportunities in Indianapolis, the CDS can provide the information necessary to make data-informed decisions.

Each month, this newsletter features a key data point from a recently updated graph, similar to what you see below. Also, keep an eye out for CDS data in the media, including a recent article from MirrorIndy.

Community Data Snapshot: Per capita income

In Marion County, the per capita income for white individuals in 2023 was $48,397. This is about 1.8 times the per capita income for Black or African American individuals ($26,990) and nearly 2.5 times the per capita income for Hispanic or Latino individuals ($19,437).
