Dubois County Community Foundation and Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition (SWICACC) have joined forces for a new public art endeavor. This collaborative project will bring a vibrant mural to life on the exterior of Center on Fifth, the child advocacy center in Jasper.

“We are thrilled to further enhance the physical environment of Center on Fifth through the transformative power of art," said Tammy Lampert, Director of SWICACC. "We believe this mural will have a positive effect on the mental health and well-being of the children we serve but also will contribute to the beautification of our neighborhood, by fostering a sense of pride and belonging,” Lampert said.

The mural will be painted by Bloomington-based artist, Adam Long, and will depict a colorful aquarium scene with a variety of marine life encompassing the east side of the building.
“This project is a dream both personally and professionally,” Long said. “My goal is that this mural is a source of inspiration that uplifts the community for years to come," he said.
In addition to the home of SWICACC, Center on Fifth acts as a nonprofit hub and houses Mentors for Youth, Dubois County CARES, A.I.M. Academy, Community C.H.E.W. and Purdue Extension, nonprofits that all provide youth-centered programming.

“Our hope is the mural will act as powerful tool in promoting serenity, imagination and joy for visitors to the child advocacy center and our whole community,” Lampert said.
The mural is generously funded by the United Cabinet Endowment and bolstered by support from additional donors of the Community Foundation. This public art initiative aligns with the Community Foundation's strategic emphasis on enhancing quality of place in the county.

Adam Long has painted over 200 murals and garnered national attention for his sprawling, 10,000-square-foot mural of the American flag painted on the roof of Bear Hardware store in Nashville, Indiana.
