Heritage Fund Awards More Than $245K to Local Nonprofits

Heritage Fund - the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County recently awarded $247,500 in grants from the Community Fund to local nonprofit organizations as part of its fourth-quarter grants cycle.

Grant recipients are:

  • Turning Point Domestic Violence Services – $200,000 to support the renovation of new administrative building
  • Thrive Alliance – $37,500 to support telephone technology and office equipment upgrades
  • Columbus Area Arts Council – $10,000 to support an off-site Board of Directors retreat and professional development for executive director

Through the generous support of community members, HFBC annually distributes approximately $600,000 to $700,000 in grants to local nonprofits from the unrestricted Community Fund. Community Fund grants help HFBC to meet emerging needs in Bartholomew County in the areas of Youth Development, Substance Abuse, Neighborhood Revitalization, Innovation and Creativity and Welcoming Community.

In addition to these Community Fund grants, other grants awarded this quarter include:

  • Indiana University Foundation – $5,846 to support resources for students at IUPUC Mental Health Counseling Center
  • Council for Youth Development – $3,000 to support Phase II of Youth Master Plan development
  • NAACP of Bartholomew County – $1,000 to support MLK Day and Black History Month Activities
  • Columbus Annual MLK Day – $750 to support 2022 MLK Day Breakfast
