Heritage Fund awards $182K to local nonprofits
Columbus Indiana —Heritage Fund recently awarded $182,100 in grants fromthe Community Fund to local nonprofit organizations as part of its first-quarter grants cycle.
Grant recipients are:
- Healthy Communities – $62,100 to support Mental Health Matters
- Ambassador pilot program and Credible Minds translation services
- Bartholomew County Public Library – $50,000 to support redesign of Indiana
- Room into Teen Space
- Su Casa Columbus – $40,000 to support youth engagement work
- The Arc of Bartholomew County – $20,000 to support ADA remodel of offices
- Columbus Area Arts Council – $10,000 to support strategic planning
Through the generous support of community members, HFBC annually distributes approximately $600,000 to $700,000 in grants to local nonprofits from the unrestricted Community Fund. Community Fund grants help HFBC to meet emerging needs in Bartholomew County in the areas of Youth Development, Downtown Vibrancy; Arts, Culture, and Architecture; and Responsive Community Need. In addition to these Community Fund grants, other grants awarded this quarter include:
- South Asian Fund of Bartholomew County – $5,000 to support 2024 Mela Celebration
- REACH Columbus – $3,000 to support life skills enhancement work
- Bartholomew County Historical Society – $1,000 to support Talking Tombstones and Preserving Black Heritage
- Indiana University Foundation – $200 to support IU Columbus Pride Pantry
