Hendricks County Community Foundations Partners with Parks

Friday, August 5, 2022

Today, the Hendricks County Community Foundation (HCCF) and the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County (PFOHC) announced a long-term strategic partnership to maximize their collective impact in supporting parks, trails and outdoor spaces throughout Hendricks County. To kick off this collaboration, HCCF awarded PFOHC $20,000 which will be used to provide funding to enhance the cultural, recreational and natural resources in Hendricks County this year.

“We are pleased to award the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County with this annual funding as we work together to create the best outcomes for our entire community,” said William Rhodehamel, HCCF President & CEO. “This partnership will provide a new opportunity and approach to improving the incredible parks and trails throughout Hendricks County.”

In this formal partnership, HCCF will now defer all parks and trails improvement projects to apply for grant funding directly through PFOHC. This new process will allow parks departments equal opportunity to compete for available grant dollars. Additionally, HCCF will now lean on the expertise of PFOHC to make decisions related to the greatest needs of the parks and trails systems in Hendricks County.

“We are grateful for this new partnership with the Hendricks County Community Foundation, the generous grant funding and the vote of confidence to steward these resources for our parks and trails,” said Katy Cummings, PFOHC Executive Director. “This partnership signals the next step in the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County’s growth as we continue to strengthen our mission and make an impact to enhance outdoor spaces in Hendricks County.”

Parks in Hendricks County are invited to apply for these grant dollars through PFOHC. For more information email katy@pfohc.org. A link for more information will also be available on the HCCF website at hendrickscountycf.org. In the terms of this new partnership, the $20,000 in grant funding must be distributed during the 2022 calendar year. A new round of funding for 2023 will be announced at a later date.
