Hendricks County Community Foundation Provides $8K Grant to Plainfield Youth Program

Thursday, December 1, 2022

The Hendricks County Community Foundation awarded the Plainfield Youth Assistance Program (PYAP) a grant for $8000 to assist with programming opportunities for youth in PYAP that need individualized services.

The grant provided support for 15 students completing the year-long PYAP Mentorship Program, 32 students registering at Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center, 6 students participating in Strides-To-Success group sessions, the purchase of sports equipment, 25 recreation center passes supplied to mentors and mentees, and 151 camp registrations for summer programming in the summer of 2022. In addition, due to these opportunities and the positive growth participants have shown, multiple students and families have continued to engage in the community on their own.

The Plainfield Youth Assistance Program serves as a voluntary early intervention and advocacy process for at-risk youth and families in Plainfield. PYAP engages the community holistically and brings together individuals, businesses, faith-based and other nonprofit organizations to provide support, enrichment, and other opportunities for youth and their parents and caregivers. PYAP is an organization that empowers vulnerable youth, ages 3-17, and their families to engage in the Plainfield Community to start to build their own network and support.

“We are incredibly thankful for the Hendricks County Community Foundation and their support of PYAP. These funds had a huge impact in our student’s lives over the past year. Moving forward, PYAP will continue to empower each child and engage them in Plainfield and Hendricks County to improve their current situation,” says Staci Hovermale, Youth Assistance Program Director.
