The Hendricks County Community Foundation (HCCF) awarded $26,500 to the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County (PFOHC) as a part of their long-term strategic partnership to maximize their collective impact in supporting parks, trails and outdoor spaces throughout Hendricks County. This grant will be used to provide funding to enhance the cultural, recreational and natural resources in Hendricks County this year and support the operations of the Parks Foundation.

“We are pleased to award the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County with this annual funding as we work together to create the best outcomes for our entire community,” said William Rhodehamel, HCCF President & CEO. “This partnership provides an effective approach to improving the incredible parks and trails throughout Hendricks County.”

As a part of this partnership, HCCF defers all parks and trails improvement projects to the Parks Foundation. This process allows parks departments equal opportunity to compete for available grant dollars. The Community Foundation is relying on the expertise of PFOHC to make decisions related to the greatest needs of the parks and trails systems in Hendricks County.

In 2024, the Parks Foundation awarded the following grants:

  • Brownsburg Parks & Recreation -funding for a mobile nature discovery cart and supplies.
  • Hendricks County Parks & Recreation -funding for two mobility wheelchairs for McCloud Nature Park.
  • North Salem Revitalization -funding for park enhancements including accessible picnic tables, electrical work, and landscaping for North Salem Town Park.
  • Plainfield Parks & Recreation -funding for new amenities for Vandalia Trail including water stations and park benches.
  • Washington Township Parks & Recreation -funding for a glow lab at Pecar Park Nature Center.
Katy Cummings, PFOHC Executive Director, commented, “The Hendricks County Community Foundation truly cares about our community, including issues related to quality of life. The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County values the partnership we’ve created and is grateful for their continued support of public parks and trails."

Parks in Hendricks County are invited to apply for these grant dollars through PFOHC. For more information email katy@pfohc.org. A link for more information is also available on the HCCF website at hendrickscountycf.org.
