Fountain City Forward Announces its Nonprofit Status
FOUNTAIN CITY, IN – Fountain City Forward announces its formation as Wayne County’s newest nonprofit organization. Based in Fountain City, Indiana, it is committed to maximizing opportunities for historical preservation, revitalization, beautification, and technological and safety enhancements. Fountain City Forward also seeks to obtain Indiana Main Street designation and has been working with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
In June of 2023, members of the Fountain City community met with the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and Forward Wayne County to gauge interest in forming a Main Street Organization. Over several months, the group formed a board of directors, created and approved bylaws, and filed articles of incorporation. The IRS granted nonprofit 501(c)(3) status to the organization on October 27, 2023.
The board of directors includes the following community members: Rett Foster, Angie Smith, Keith Webster, Terry Wiesehan, President Kristy Anderson, Vice President Robert Williams, Secretary Elizabeth Williams, and Treasurer Anthony Johnson.
Fountain City Forward’s board of directors encompasses a diverse group of individuals passionate about the town that helped shape them into the educators, business owners, and community members they are today. This group hopes to make a difference in preserving the unique characteristics of their beloved small town and restore it to a place where people are proud to call it home and raise their families for generations to come.
Fountain City Forward has the potential to create a dynamic and thriving community that benefits residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Projects for the upcoming year include beautification projects, promotion of local businesses, and events centered around the April 2024 Eclipse.
