Five Delaware County Nonprofit Organizations Receive $67,428 from Harry and Janet Kitselman Fund Grants at The Community Foundation
Muncie, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. has awarded $67,428 in grants to five nonprofit organizations from the Harry and Janet Kitselman Fund.
Harry and Janet Kitselman were residents and civic leaders in the Muncie community. Per Mr. and Mrs. Kitselman's wishes, a fund was created to administer and distribute funds for the good of the people of Muncie, Indiana, and the surrounding community with fine arts, recreation, children, and the history of East Central Indiana as the areas of focus. The following organizations were recipients of a Harry and Janet Kitselman Fund Grant this year:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County received $10,000 to support their One-on-One Mentoring program. Through this program Big Brothers Big Sisters anticipates serving 125 matches this year in Delaware County.
BY5 Early Childhood Education Initiative, Inc. received $9,928 to defray the cost of the Kickoff to Kindergarten program in Muncie.
Cardinal Greenway, Inc. received $17,500 to continue a property management plan that will have Delaware County parcels reclassified and have bridges along the trail system inspected.
Muncie Symphony Orchestra received $10,000 to fund education outreach efforts including Music on the Move and the Instrument Petting Zoo.
Youth Opportunity Center, Inc. received $20,000 to renovate a kitchen in a cottage for the Intensive Adolescent Care (INTAC) program. Program staff will use this space and equipment to help YOC youth develop life-skills.
