Community Foundation of Southern Indiana Releases Nonprofit Resource Guide

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Community Foundation of Southern Indiana released a new resource to help address Southern Indiana’s needs. The Nonprofit Sector – A Resource Guide for Clark Floyd Counties, includes a nonprofit listing by focus area and presents findings from a survey of nonprofit community services providers highlighting the needs, gaps and overlaps in services in Clark and Floyd counties.

Two years ago the Community Foundation released the 2015 Assessment of Needs and Priorities in Clark and Floyd Counties. This community needs assessment used public data and survey responses from residents, businesses, community leaders, nonprofit services organizations and others to develop strategic community goals based on the needs and priorities outlined in the report. This new report, The Nonprofit Sector – A Resource Guide for Clark and Floyd Counties, presents findings specific to the challenges of the nonprofit sector with attention to areas where nonprofit executives reflect distinct perspectives from other business and community leaders or from residents.

Linda Speed, president and CEO of the Community Foundation said, “With this report we can begin to look at the gaps and overlaps in services and funding that are facing our region’s nonprofits.” She continued, “This is such a wonderful community to live, work and play in and our nonprofits work every day to keep it that way by addressing the greatest needs of our community. Using this information we can look at how, as a community, we can work together to address our greatest needs in strategic and impactful ways that will improve our quality of life and quality of place.”

The resource guide was completed in partnership with the Indiana University Southeast Applied Research and Education Center and is being provided as a downloadable community resource at the Community Foundation’s website.
