The arrival of August kicks off Black Philanthropy Month (BPM), a multimedia campaign to inform, involve, inspire and invest in Black philanthropic leadership and strengthen African-descent giving in all forms, established by Dr. Jackie Copeland-Carson in 2011. BPM offers tools to envision a positive Black future, and pumps ideas and energy into a cultural revival through which African-descent communities everywhere can take concrete steps to become the change they want to see.

It is important that we continue to redirect the narrative from the marginalization of, and disinvestment in, Black communities and communities of color to focus on strength and leadership found within the Black community. Here at IPA, we are excited to be a part of the conversation and to shine a light on Black Philanthropy, so prevalent in our region.

For ways that you can support and invest in Black Philanthropy 365 days a year check out facebook.com/BlackPhilanthropyMonth or visit their website at blackphilanthropymonth.com.
