Ahmed Young Named President and CEO of the Indianapolis Foundation
A respected leader in education, government, and civic engagement, Young will officially assume the role on Sept. 1, 2025.

The Indianapolis Foundation has appointmented Ahmed Young as its new President and CEO. A respected leader in education, government, and civic engagement, Young will officially assume the role on Sept. 1, 2025.
Young currently serves as Director of Public and Government Affairs for Walmart. He previously held leadership roles including District Chief of Staff and General Counsel for Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and Director of the Office of Education Innovation and Charter Schools for the City of Indianapolis under Mayor Joe Hogsett.
A former classroom teacher in Lawrence Township and New York City, Young went on to earn his law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He has also served as a Deputy Prosecutor in Marion County and as an attorney and public affairs advisor at Bose McKinney & Evans and Bose Public Affairs Group.

The Foundation also expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Michael R. Twyman, who has served as interim president since February 2025. “Dr. Twyman has provided steady and principled leadership during a critical time,” Davis said. “We are incredibly grateful for his service, wisdom, and continued partnership.”
The Foundation’s Board conducted a competitive search to select a long-term leader for the next chapter of its work. “This appointment is about building upon the strong foundation already in place,” Davis said. “Ahmed’s leadership will help us deepen our impact and move closer to a future where race, place, and identity do not determine opportunity.”
