Position Summary
Working as part of the Community Giving Team and reporting to the Director, Youth Philanthropy, the Youth Philanthropy Program Officer- Dance Marathon Engagement plays a critical role in securing new high school Dance Marathon programs through recruitment and onboarding, as well as managing initiatives within the Youth Philanthropy team.
Position Specifics
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising
- School Recruitment: Responsible for recruitment of new and reactivated high school Dance Marathon programs. Collaborate with Youth Philanthropy Program Officer- Kids Caring & Sharing on additional K-12 programs as appropriate.
- Onboarding: Develop and manage onboarding process and content for new high school Riley Dance Marathon programs.
- New Program Success: Advise new high school DM programs through the completion of their first event and facilitate the transition to the Youth Philanthropy Program Coordinator and collegiate partner if applicable.
2. Program Management
- Strategy & Innovation: Develop and execute strategic plan for new high school dance marathon recruitment and onboarding. Work closely with team members to advise on high school dance marathon best practices for increased participation and revenue. Provide input to overall youth philanthropy program strategy through the Director, Youth Philanthropy. Identify generation-specific innovations for the high school dance marathon program.
- Education: Plan and execute ongoing education and training initiatives for Dance Marathon leaders and advisors. Maintain updates of external educational materials. Serve as team leader for the annual in-person high school education session including overall content strategy, event planning, and task delegation.
- Stewardship: Manage and plan Dance Marathon stewardship efforts. Guide the team in brainstorming and decision-making. Assign tasks to team members. Ensure deadlines are met and overall vision is achieved.
- Communication: Create annual communication plans for external communication to Riley DM participants and programs. Determine external communication needs from the team regularly. Act as team representative for collaborative projects with the RCF Communications team.
- Youth Philanthropy Team: Collaborate regularly with team members to maximize the support, success, and growth of youth philanthropy efforts. Provide project or event support when appropriate, as needed.
3. Administrative
- Project Management Software: Manage and maintain processes for utilizing team project management software and organizing related files related to the Riley Dance Marathon program.
- Database: Ensure the integrity of Dance Marathon data points, including affiliations and relationships as well as campaign information.
- Reporting: Utilize reports in database to draw conclusions based on data to further relationships and fundraising opportunities, as well as to keep accurate financial records with schools.
- DonorDrive: Act as first line of technical and best practice use support.
- Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures including submitting expense reimbursements, gift processing, RCF calendar additions, etc., by the deadlines assigned.
- Meetings: Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children’s Foundation meetings as appropriate. Ensure expectations and tools for meeting agendas and follow-up are implemented.
- Budget: Work with your direct manager to monitor individual budget, staying within overall budget guidelines.
- Technology: Understand and effectively use the technology available at the Riley Children’s Foundation, including mobile pay devices, webinar software, and social media.
- Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all Foundation policies, as well as local, state and federal laws that govern business practices.
4. Riley Children’s Foundation Representative
- Presentations: Represent Riley Children’s Foundation through delivering public speeches about the organization and its mission to the external public. Follow Foundation procedure for coordinating President/CEO speaking engagements.
- Tours: Give tours of the hospital, and provide information on Riley Children’s Health, Riley Children’s Foundation, JWR Museum Home and Wells Center for Pediatric Research as appropriate.
5. Other Duties as Assigned
- Riley Children’s Foundation events: Participate in Riley Children’s Foundation Events as requested.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fundraising program management or peer-to-peer fundraising coaching. Experience in youth philanthropy preferred. Solid knowledge of an overall donor or customer experience model. Dance Marathon leadership experience preferred.
- Skills: Solid relationship building. Strong understanding of peer-to-peer fundraising techniques and principles. Understanding of individual donor needs and perceptions. Strong ability to speak in public. Proven program management experience. Excellent written communication. Sensitivity to the needs of donors. Problem-solving, research, and analytical skills. Attention to detail and organization. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Proficiency in use of constituent databases, Salesforce platform experience a plus.
- Qualities: Personal belief in Riley Children’s Foundation vision, mission, core values and strategic direction. Results-oriented. The ability to work independently under pressure and effectively prioritize a varied and diverse workload. Proactive, innovative, and resourceful.
