Senior Community Leadership Officer- This position will demonstrate command of the field and serve as a subject matter expert in critical issues facing women and girls in Indiana, driving the development and implementation of grantmaking and community leadership strategies that align with Women’s Fund’s values and strategic plan.

What We’re Looking For:
The Senior Community Leadership Officer (SCLO) provides accomplished leadership to achieve measurable outcomes for women and girls in the communities Women’s Fund serves. This position will demonstrate command of the field and serve as a subject matter expert in critical issues facing women and girls in Indiana, driving the development and implementation of grantmaking and community leadership strategies that align with Women’s Fund’s values and strategic plan. This role will blend deep expertise of women and girls with responsibilities in community leadership, coalition building, and convening community stakeholders around critical issues. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of women’s and girls’ health, including reproductive and mental health, economic mobility, empowerment, and personal safety and intimate partner violence. A successful candidate should demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills including facilitating difficult conversations to align interests among diverse stakeholders, and a proven ability to mobilize resources and foster collaboration in these critical areas. Candidate should display knowledge of and commitment to community-centered, trust-based philanthropy.
Key Responsibilities
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Serve as the organization’s primary expert in priority areas, including women’s health, economic mobility, girls’ empowerment, and personal safety/intimate partner violence, providing insights and guidance to inform program development, grantmaking, and community leadership strategies.
- Stay abreast of trends, research, and best practices related to women’s issues and share knowledge with staff, grantees, donors, external stakeholders and community partners.
- Understand the relationship between women and girls’ well-being and community health.
- Conduct assessments and analysis to identify community needs and opportunities for impactful interventions in each of these areas.
Grantmaking:
- Lead the design and execution of grantmaking strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, community priorities and the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana Strategic Plan.
- Manage grants consultant and grantmaking application processes, including committees, proposal evaluation, funding recommendations, grantee reporting, and reporting and documentation of outcomes, ensuring alignment and compliance with Women’s Fund of Central Indiana priorities and policies.
- Develop and manage budgets for grantmaking and community leadership initiatives.
Coalition Building:
- Facilitate the formation, operation, and strengthening of high-performing coalitions involving diverse stakeholders to address common challenges and leverage collective resources to support Women’s Fund strategies.
- Organize and lead convenings, discussions, and workshops that unite community members, organizations, and experts to identify solutions to pressing issues.
- Support coalition partners in developing strategies and action plans that foster collaboration and shared ownership of community initiatives that align with Women’s Fund’s community strategies.
Program Management:
- Lead pilot Generosity Forward youth philanthropy education program.
- Manage special projects consultant and the Women’s Funds OPTIONS program.
- Manage consultant and the Executive Women of Color Leadership Program.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of funded programs, using data and feedback to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, grantmaking, fundraising, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in issues specific to women and girls.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity to community dynamics.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a passion for community service and a commitment to gender equity, anti-racism, intersectionality and justice.
Working Conditions: Flexible hybrid office environment (in office three days a week). Home base–English Foundation Building in downtown Indianapolis, plus additional space and expectation of presence in Hamilton County Community Foundation’s Fishers office.
