Position Summary
The Policy Manager assists the Senior Director of Policy and Strategy and other Prosperity Indiana leadership in the execution of the organization’s policy and advocacy priorities. This includes the management of advocacy-based coalitions and activities, and other policyrelated initiatives.
Position Specifics
- Lead Prosperity Indiana's three issue-based, statewide advocacy coalitions: Indiana Assets & Opportunity Network, Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition, Hoosiers for Responsible Lending. These coalitions educate and encourage our members and the public to engage in policy issues.
- Advance Prosperity Indiana's mission and policy priorities by recruiting coalition members and steering committee leadership, scheduling and facilitating meetings, building diverse and inclusive partnerships, and encouraging coalition participants to become members of Prosperity Indiana.
- Manage delivery of Prosperity Indiana's advocacy-related activities including the annual Statehouse Day, Policy and Pizza, and assisting with coordination of Capitol Hill Day events.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead in-person and virtual policy education events and webinars highlighting emerging policy issues such as Advocacy 101.
- Assist with policy content production including annual housing reports, blog posts, and analysis of existing and proposed policies.
- Support advocacy capacity building initiatives for members & partners.
- Assist with identifying, applying for, and managing grants to fund policy programming.
- Monitor and track legislation.
- Engage with state, federal and administrative policymakers year-round.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and leadership skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and collaboration skills, and an ability to work independently and as a team player. Public speaking, problem-solving, and relationship building skills are essential for this position. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to successfully juggle and accomplish multiple tasks.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Comfortable working with racially and economically diverse populations and underrepresented communities
- Centrally located in Indiana and willing to do seasonal statewide and national traveling
- Bachelor's degree is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Grant writing and reporting experience
- Knowledge of the human services and/or community economic development sector
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector
- Graduate degree in political science, public affairs, law, government, social work or a related field
Salary & Benefits
Salary: $45,000 to 55,000; paid health insurance, dental and vision, life insurance, 401k match, PTO and holidays

Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to work at a computer for several hours each day. Possible option to establish a hybrid work schedule per organizational guidelines, but attendance at in-person staff and community events, meetings, and legislative sessions will be required.
