Communications Manager
The Communications Manager plays a vital role in amplifying IPA’s mission by supporting the execution of strategic communications and marketing initiatives.

Representing a diverse network of community foundations, private and family foundations, corporate funders, and public grantmaking charities, IPA provides advocacy, training, technical assistance, and peer learning to strengthen member impact. Position Summary
IPA is seeking a skilled and strategic Communications Manager to craft and manage messaging that informs, inspires, and connects Indiana’s philanthropic community. This role will lead content creation and distribution across digital, print, and media platforms, helping elevate the voice of philanthropy statewide. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and creative thinker who thrives in a mission-driven environment.
Position Specifics
Marketing & Messaging Support
- Develop, write, and edit clear, compelling content across platforms (newsletters, press releases, email campaigns, social media, promotional materials).
- Ensure consistent voice and brand identity across all IPA communications.
- Collaborate with staff and members to promote IPA programs, initiatives, and impact stories.
Digital Media & Web Management
- Coordinate and update website content using a content management system (CMS).
- Manage content calendar and scheduling for social media platforms.
- Monitor engagement analytics and recommend improvements.
Project Coordination & Administration
- Create and manage timelines for communications campaigns.
- Support cross-functional teams with campaign planning and execution.
- Track communications performance metrics and maintain documentation using tools like Salesforce.
- Assist with stewardship efforts and member engagement activities.
Research & Trend Monitoring
- Monitor media, philanthropic trends, and public policy developments to inform communications.
- Stay current on best practices in digital marketing, email engagement, and nonprofit communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CMS (Drupal preferred), email marketing tools, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms, and CRMs like Salesforce.
- Experience with email marketing platforms and form-building tools (e.g., FormAssembly).
- Ability to translate complex information into accessible, engaging content.

Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with extended periods of computer use
- Frequent use of a keyboard and other standard office equipment
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, with occasional bending and stooping
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required based on project needs
