Organization Overview
Girl Scouts of Central Indiana serves 45 Indiana counties, 17,000+ girls and 9,800 adult volunteers. We are the proud facilitators of Girl Scout camp at 5 Indiana locations, conveners of 900 Girl Scout programs with nearly 600 community partners and serve thousands more community members each year at our STEM Center of Excellence and Founders Lodge Event and Conference Center.
Position Summary
Girl Scouts Central Indiana (GSCI) is seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to serve as a leader of leaders guiding the organization with passion, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to empowering EVERY girl. The CEO will champion the council’s strategic direction while overseeing all aspects of its operations—including community engagement, cultural inclusivity, fundraising, membership development, operational excellence, and fiscal responsibility.
This inspiring leader will adeptly navigate both internal operations and external partnerships, fostering strong relationships across diverse communities and guiding the organization with strategic clarity, thoughtful leadership, and a bold, future-focused mindset.

Candidate Profile
GSCI VISIBILITY & IMPACT
- Amplifies engagement and involvement of both Girl Scouts and volunteers by creating enriching, collaborative, and inspiring opportunities that drive active participation and deepen community connections.
- Serves as a visible and approachable leader who is deeply accessible to the community, advocating for girls and strengthening the council’s brand and presence.
- Understands critical issues affecting girls’ lives today, advancing Girl Scouts as the thought leader and premier voice for girls at the local, state, and federal level.
- Increases connections by reaching into every area of the council territory to nurture strategic relationships, increase visibility, and grow membership numbers.
PROGRAM & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
- Ensures the delivery of impactful and meaningful experiences tailored to the evolving interests and needs of girls, ensuring every program is relevant, engaging, and creates personal growth and development.
- Enhances organizational reach and impact through the cultivation of partnerships and dedicated outreach efforts, thereby augmenting the experiences and opportunities available to our members.
- Oversees development and administration of the programs and products that support GSCI’s mission, vision, goals, and strategies.
- Evaluates and advises on the development of new programs, products, and strategies to drive and sustain membership growth.
- Oversees the implementation of program initiatives, tracking outcomes and ensuring accountability for measurable growth and meaningful change.
- Assists in removing barriers to participation to ensure equal access and opportunity.
STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
- In partnership with the Sr. Team, strategically develops and ensures execution of comprehensive, targeted, and innovative recruitment strategies.
- Works closely with the Board to oversee change initiatives, strategic planning development and implementation.
- Executes strategic plan, monitors progress, and evaluates effectiveness.
- Spearheads the organization’s business strategies, ensuring that they align and remain consistent with the organizational mission and core values.
- Works in partnership with GSUSA to promote the national policy agenda and implement a unified policy voice and advocacy strategy.
FUNDRAISING & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Leverages contacts and organizational relationships to identify potential donors and partners.
- Supports initiatives to diversify and increase funding sources (including individual and corporate donors as well as identifying and pursuing grants and other funding sources).
- Supports the Board in development and execution of fund development strategies enabling GSCI to address current and long-term organizational sustainability.
- Manages the annual financial planning and budget process and ensures all organizational divisions operate within the approved budgets.
TEAM, CULTURE & TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Motivates, coaches, and leads a high-performance senior leadership team.
- Leads the team in the selection, management, and retention of a talented council workforce committed to the Girl Scouts mission.
- Alongside the leadership team, builds a culture of engagement and empowerment through consistent communication, and collaboration.
- Provides leadership and guidance for the design, development, and implementation of volunteer and HR systems ensuring GSCI attracts and retains a diverse and talented pool of volunteers and staff.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) and 15+ years of progressive executive experience within the community impact or nonprofit industry. Throughout their professional career, the candidate will need to have demonstrated success in youth development, fund development, vision, collaboration, leadership, managing diversity, community relations, planning, board relations, property management, and program delivery. They will be team-oriented, results-driven, and display a vision and passion for the youth enrichment experience.
