Position Summary

The Western Indiana Community Foundation (WICF) seeks a dynamic and innovative Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its work in advancing philanthropy and strengthening communities across Fountain and Vermillion counties. As the public face of WICF, the CEO will oversee $45 million in charitable assets and 375+ funds, guiding strategic direction, day-to-day operations, and community engagement. Key responsibilities include donor and fund development, fiscal and investment management, grantmaking, and board relations. The CEO will also support four affiliated community boards, manage staff, and represent WICF at public events to build visibility and trust. Position Specifics

The Western Indiana Community Foundation (WICF) is seeking a dynamic and innovative Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the Foundation in advancing philanthropy and strengthening communities across Fountain and Vermillion counties. As the public face of WICF, the CEO represents the Foundation’s values of compassion, community, and stewardship while working closely with donors, board members, and local partners.

The CEO is responsible for guiding WICF’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations, overseeing more than $45 million in charitable assets and 375+ funds. Key responsibilities include donor and fund development, fiscal and investment management, grantmaking, and board and community relations. The CEO will cultivate strong donor partnerships, ensure financial accountability, and promote innovative approaches to fundraising and engagement.

In addition, the CEO will support four affiliated community boards, manage staff, and represent WICF at public events, building visibility and trust throughout the region. This role requires a leader who can balance vision with execution, inspire confidence among stakeholders, and drive sustainable growth for the Foundation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Western Indiana Community Foundation (WICF) will be an experienced and visionary leader with a demonstrated track record in nonprofit or related administration. A bachelor’s degree in business, organizational management, or a related field is required, along with at least five years of proven leadership experience. Candidates should bring strong knowledge of philanthropic principles, fundraising strategies, and the ability to lead large-scale projects in collaboration with local and state partners.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the capacity to engage donors, inspire staff, and build lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate sound financial management expertise, organizational governance knowledge, and a deep commitment to advancing community impact, social improvement, and economic development.

The CEO will work closely with a dedicated staff, learn from the community, and represent WICF at events across Fountain and Vermillion counties. The position requires residency in or near western Indiana, regular travel within the region and Midwest, and flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and related software is expected; experience with Crescendo Interactive, GLM, and SLM is preferred.
