SMCF is a pillar of local philanthropy with assets of $14.6 million invested for permanent impact through annual grant-making. A funding partner to agencies that build the quality of life enjoyed by residents, SMCF seeks to do ever more.

The Position:

The Associate Director works closely with the Executive Director to execute SMCF’s Strategic Plan. As a key staff member, the Associate Director will excel at relationship development and program implementation. Each programmatic component of SMCF’s work includes fund development, committee and community engagement, and public relations. Each component serves the effectiveness of SMCF’s overall operations and adheres to the highest standard of excellence across 40 areas of National Standards for Community Foundations.

The Applicant:

A qualified candidate will have experience working with nonprofit and community organizations, demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, maintain continual attention to detail, and be able to capably manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently. An exceptional applicant will show deep interest and engagement in community work and special aptitude or experience in one or more of SMCF’s impact initiatives:

Initiative: Address Unmet Needs

  • Raise awareness and foster empathy for people in need.
  • Sponsor and promote service delivery for people in need.
  • Invest in and advocate for universal accessibility and inclusive public policies.

Initiative: Encourage Lifelong Learning and a Resilient Economy

  • Support educational offerings for lifelong learners.
  • Build a robust college/career/community pipeline.

Initiative: Enhance Physical Spaces and Interpersonal Connections

  • Support efforts to preserve, protect, restore, and expand greenspaces.
  • Invest in community amenities that foster social engagement and mental well-being.

Initiative: Expand Civic Capacity

  • Ally with anchor institutions to plan and deliver exemplary service to residents.
  • Equip residents to become informed on civic matters and to serve in public roles.
