Accountant
Work closely with the Controller to support effective and streamlined financial systems and human resources (HR) functions for the Community Foundation and its affiliated organizations nonprofits – Regional Opportunity Initiatives, CDFI Friendly Bloomington, and Heading Home.

Position Summary
Your Deliverables:
- Accounting:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Monitor and reconcile bank, credit card, and investment accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies
- Assist the Controller in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets
- Assist the Controller with audit preparation to ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Monitor each organizations insurance needs and engage Controller and COO in an annual review.
- Human Resources:
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration including reporting, employer tax records, and returns
- Maintain HR records and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations o Support employee onboarding, training, and development initiatives
- Support recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screenings and interview
Your Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience Managing an integrated accounting system desirable; experience in fund accounting and nonprofit accounting not required but preferred
- A strong sense of ethical professionalism while consistently maintaining discretion and confidentiality
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting
- Working knowledge of human resource policies and best practices
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team with a positive, proactive attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, while meeting deadlines
- Customer service orientation and ability to respond with sensitivity, patience, enthusiasm, and timeliness
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum of two years of professional experience with detailed general ledger work within organizations managing multiple funds or divisions
- Skills testing will be conducted as part of the application process
