Todd Barton

Mayor
Todd Barton has served as Mayor of Crawfordsville since January 1, 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term. Mayor Barton is a native of Crawfordsville and Montgomery County and served the community for 26 years as a fire fighter/paramedic with the Crawfordsville Fire Department. He graduated with honors from Wabash College in 2000 with a B.A., majoring in political science. He earned his degree in three years by attending the liberal arts school full-time, working full-time and raising a family. As mayor he has led an ambitious and successful effort to restore financial stability, rebuild infrastructure, improve quality of life and modernize economic development efforts through business retention, attraction and workforce development. Under his leadership several innovative programs have been developed in Crawfordsville that have received statewide, national and international attention. These include Mobile Integrated Health, Project Swaddle, Project Bundle, Quick Response Team to address addiction and mental health, Creation of a Workforce Alliance, the Montgomery County Early Childhood Coalition, a monthly community forum, and a weekly podcast. He and his wife Jamie, a nurse practitioner in Crawfordsville, have three grown children.


Brad Monts

Bradley J. Monts is president and CEO of Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Crawfordsville. He joined the bank in 1990 and has held positions as branch manager, loan officer, senior vice president, operations manager, CFO, COO and, currently, president/CEO.
Monts is an active leader for many local community organizations. He serves as treasurer of the Montgomery County Education Foundation, president of Indiana West Advantage and a member of the Montgomery County Redevelopment Commission. Monts is also a member of the Ladoga Lions Club, Montgomery County Health & Wellness Center Board, the Independent Community Bankers of America's Cyber and Data Security Subcommittee and the Montgomery County Community Council.
He has previously served on the South Montgomery Community Schools Board of Trustees as president, South Montgomery Dollars for Scholars Committee, Montgomery County Early Childhood Coalition, Montgomery County Community Foundation Investment Committee, Montgomery County Regional Water & Sewer District Board, Historic Ladoga, Inc. and as Montgomery County United Fund Drive Chair.
Monts earned a bachelor’s degree from Franklin College and has completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.


Patrick Murray

Patrick Murray leads KinderCare’s advocacy efforts, working to expand access to quality early childhood education programs and align policy with the needs of children, families, and employers. Patrick joined KinderCare from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where he led the foundation’s federal advocacy strategies on education and health. Previously, he served as a policy advisor to U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Patrick resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and two young children. In 2024 he was appointed to serve as a board member of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Lisa Walter

Early Learning Director
Lisa joined the Montgomery County Community Foundation in June of 2021 as Early Learning Director. She has extensive experience in the field, with prior early childhood education experience in teaching, administration and advocacy. Lisa has years of direct experience in early education as well, including the role of Center Director for the Purdue University Early Care and Education Center. She earned a Master of Elementary Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education from Ball State University in 2019. Lisa is passionate about high-quality early childhood education and provides coaching, consultation, training, and resources to our early childhood educators in Montgomery County.
