Alex is a certified public accountant specializing in nonprofit accounting. As CFO, he oversees the financial operations for Intend and its five subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with reporting and usage requirements for grants, debt, and other funding sources, including New Markets Tax Credit allocations, program-related investments, and equity-equivalent investments.
Previously, Alex managed the operations of Build Fund, one of Intend’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI), where he underwrote loans for small businesses throughout central Indiana and developed a dedicated affordable housing construction loan product. Before joining Intend, he was a licensed municipal advisor representative with Crowe LLP, assisting public entities with debt issuances, rate studies, and financial forecasts.
Alex holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Indiana University - Bloomington’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, with concentrations in public finance and policy analysis, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Bowling Green State University. He completed his accounting coursework at Indiana University - Indianapolis’ Kelley School of Business.
