Annual membership dues are based on the amount of philanthropic dollars distributed by organizations in the latest reporting year, unless you are a student, government agency, or professional advisor (see specialty categories below). For members headquartered outside of Indiana, dues are based on philanthropic giving only within Indiana. Annual membership terms follow the calendar year (January 1 to December 31), with dues applied accordingly.

  • For public foundations, this amount can be found in Section 1, Line 13 of your most recent 990.
  • For private foundations, this amount can be found in Section 1, Line 25.

IPA reserves the right to alter the dues calculation for members to reflect an organization's consistent grantmaking levels more accurately. See dues exception requests below for more information.


Specialty Categories

  • Professional Philanthropic Advisor: $1,000
  • Government Agency: $575
  • Non-Grantmakers: $500 (Nonprofits participating in health insurance plan only)
  • Student: $25 (Current students interested in pursuing careers in the philanthropic sector)
  • Emeritus: Offered to distinguished individuals who are retired grantmakers or former foundation board members.

Dues Exceptions

If your organization is experiencing a short-term, atypical circumstance that affects your dues bracket (i.e., managing READI funds, pass-through or capital projects, etc.), go here to submit your request for a dues exception.


New Memberships

New member dues are prorated based on the month of enrollment. Members who join in November or December receive complimentary membership through the end of the current year, with their paid membership extending through December of the following year.
