Building Women's Wealth Through Business Ownership
Join the Asset Funders Network and our partners IPA, New America, the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership, SoGal Foundation, and the Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative at Saint Mary’s College for Unlocking Assets: Building Women's Wealth through Business Ownership on November 21, 2019 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm ET.
Small businesses play a large role in the American economy, especially in the Midwest. Women-owned businesses have experienced more growth over the last five years (21%) than all small businesses combined (9%).
Despite this impressive growth for women-owned firms, a dramatic wealth gap persists when comparing the wealth built by male vs. female-owned firms. While Northern Indiana has a growing entrepreneurship culture, disparities remain for women, particularly women of color, to succeed in founding and growing their businesses.
This event will feature the voices of regional female business founders, research insights from Asset Funder Network, and expertise from regional business growth organizations. Attendees will have the chance to learn about strategies grant-makers, investors, policy advocates, and practitioners can use to drive the wealth and assets of female business owerns in our communities. Join us as we discuss system-wide challenges and design more integrated solutions.
