Opportunity, Equity & Inclusion Officer- This position serves as liaison between not-for-profit organizations, community and corporate partners, and peer Foundations related to the CREEO’s work to educate, undo biased practices and support staff, leadership and the community in addressing systemic institutional racism in Central Indiana. This person is responsible for staff and community engagement, serving as a convener and facilitator for community impact related to the Foundation’s mission.

About us: 

The Indianapolis Foundation was one of the very first community foundations in the United States. It was created by Fletcher Savings and Trust Company president Evans Woolen and two other banks in 1916, received its first gift in 1920, and made its first grant in 1924. In the years and decades that followed, the Indianapolis Foundation became a force for good in the community as it sought to achieve the goal articulated by its first executive director, Eugene Foster: “To help in making Indianapolis not the biggest city, but rather, the best city in the land.”

In 1997, the Indianapolis Foundation partnered with Hamilton County Community Foundation, then known as the Legacy Fund, to form Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). What We’re Looking For

The Indianapolis Foundation (IF) seeks an experienced philanthropy professional who is passionate about equity to oversee the administration of the Foundation’s grantmaking operations and provide staff leadership for all grant programs. As a member of the Foundation’s senior staff reporting directly to the President, the Vice President for Grantmaking participates in the strategic planning and goal-setting process that determines how the Foundation seeks to fulfill its mission; maintains a high standard of compliance with philanthropic industry standards; and assists in creating a strong, positive image for the Foundation. 

What We’re Looking For

This position serves as liaison between not-for-profit organizations, community and corporate partners, and peer Foundations related to the CREEO’s work to educate, undo biased practices and support staff, leadership and the community in addressing systemic institutional racism in Central Indiana. This person is responsible for staff and community engagement, serving as a convener and facilitator for community impact related to the Foundation’s mission. This person is responsible for tracking and reporting on internal progress, accountability and reporting out of our successes. This is a position of importance due to the incumbent’s representation of the Foundation and its values and brand experience. In addition, this position is critical due to the incumbent’s potential influence in the community, plans related to the current operation and future goals of the Foundation, and access to highly confidential information. Incumbents must maintain high standards of ethics and confidentiality.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1) Serve as the campaign and project manager of a digital awareness campaign aimed at engaging 10,000 people in acts of equity. Responsible for content development, data analysis, curation and coordination.

2) Provide collaborative guidance and support the engagement and implementation of the Neighborhood Empowerment Pathways and Community Ambassadors’ plans.

3) Support the Vice President of Equity and Policy in organizational thought leadership and public policy strategy.

4) Support CREEO in creation and maintenance of Community Partnerships

5) Liaison and collaborate with all staff regarding data & grant management, progress, accountability and reporting.

6) Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1) Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

2) Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

3) Ability to work effectively in a professional and appropriate manner, including the ability to discuss multiple concepts with others in a manner that is respectful of cultural differences.

4) Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and work independently with little supervision.

5) Excellent organizational and workload prioritizing skills.

6) Excellent conceptual and analytical skills; ability to research and analyze data and information.

7) Working knowledge of general office equipment, including computer-based word processing and spreadsheet packages, proficiency with MS Office products preferred. Experience working on the Internet and with integrated database software is also preferred.

8) Ability to organize, facilitate, and manage projects and meetings in an efficient and effective manner.

9) Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

10) Ability to travel between multiple office locations and attend off premise events, such as community events and meetings. Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.

11) Understanding and adherence to high standards of ethics and confidentiality.

 

Working Conditions: Flexible hybrid office environment (in office three days a week). Home base–English Foundation Building in downtown Indianapolis.
