About Us Hamilton County Community Foundation (HCCF) has been serving the specific needs of Hamilton County since 1991, empowering residents to create lasting legacies in their communities. In 1997, Hamilton County Community Foundation partnered with The Indianapolis Foundation to create Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). This partnership has led to a regional approach to grant-making initiatives in Central Indiana and provides a more comprehensive suite of services to fund holders. Position Overview The President of HCCF will play a pivotal role in achieving the foundation’s goals of charitable asset development, community leadership, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the HCCF Board of Directors, this leader will drive fundraising efforts, foster community relationships, and oversee the foundation’s daily operations, all while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Leadership and Donor Development Lead fundraising initiatives, focusing on attracting major charitable gifts, building relationships with donors, and ensuring strong donor retention. Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to secure funds in alignment with HCCF’s objectives.

Organizational Leadership and Community Engagement Provide visionary leadership to strengthen the board, enhance HCCF’s community image, and foster key relationships with stakeholders. Collaborate closely with the Board to advance HCCF’s mission and actively participate in board and committee meetings for both HCCF and CICF.

Grantmaking and Community Initiatives Work with staff and the Community Leadership Department to guide grantmaking strategies that address community initiatives in Hamilton County.

Senior Management and Strategic Planning Oversee the development of HCCF’s annual work plan and budget in collaboration with CICF, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational goals.

Operational Oversight and Staff Management Direct daily operations, ensuring positive workplace relationships and staff development. Provide regular feedback, prioritize initiatives, and conduct performance evaluations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Leadership and Strategic Thinking: Advanced skills in leadership, organization, and strategic planning, with the ability to see both the big picture and execute detailed steps.

Fundraising Expertise: Proven experience in personally soliciting and securing significant financial commitments through in-person fundraising.

Servant Leadership: A dedication to servant leadership, with a focus on advancing the mission of HCCF and benefiting Hamilton County and Central Indiana.

Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Executive Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an executive role, with strong preference for experience in Hamilton County and board development.

Public Relations and Marketing: Experience in PR, marketing, and brand development, with knowledge of nonprofit operations. Ability to Perform Under Pressure: Ability to manage high workloads and job-related pressures effectively, with flexibility to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the ability to write persuasively and communicate complex ideas.

Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize and manage workloads efficiently.

Analytical and Conceptual Thinking: Excellent ability to analyze data and information accurately.

Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Project and Meeting Management: Proven ability to organize and facilitate projects and meetings effectively.

Travel and Mobility: Ability to travel between office locations and attend off-site events as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Flexible hybrid office environment (in office three days a week). Home base– Hamilton County Community Foundation’s Fishers office.
