Giving Tuesday: Glick Introduces Latest Round of Grant Recipients

These grants totaling $1.86 million to 40 nonprofit organizations will help community members meet their basic needs, access opportunities for education & economic mobility, be civically engaged in our democracy, and find inclusive community connections.


“While these grants from Glick Philanthropies support a broad range of initiatives, they are all filling critical gaps for at-risk, underrepresented, and vulnerable community members,” said Marianne Glick, chair of the Glick Family Foundation. “As the needs of these communities continue to evolve, we’re committed to partnering with the nonprofit community to identify, develop, and support necessary solutions.”


Severalgrants will directly support members of the immigrant community in partnership with the nonprofit organizations Grassroot Projects, Immigrant Welcome Center, and Patchwork Indy. Patchwork Indy, for , is weaving a new social fabric that benefits all through awareness, advocacy, and advancement.


“Indiana is rapidly becoming one of the primary destinations for immigrants and refugees from around the world,” said Bruce Garrison, Chief Executive Officer of Patchwork Indy. “This grant from Glick Philanthropies will allow us to develop a holistic approach to helping these individuals move from surviving, to thriving, to flourishing. A flourishing immigrant community leads to a flourishing broader community with less poverty and more economic opportunity.”

Expanding Equitable Opportunities in the Arts
•    Dance Kaleidoscope: Increase accessibility through the Everybody Dance Initiative
•    Fonseca Theatre Company: Amplifying voices of underrepresented communities through inclusive, community-driven theatre
•    Sapphire Theatre Company: Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) arts integration initiative
•    Summer Stock Stage: Nurture young theatre talent through inclusive programming
•    The District Theatre: Present American Mariachi to represent & engage the Latino community
•    The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick: Public art planning
•    Urban Act Theatre: Amplifying Black Female Voices – a playwright residency program

Improving Access to Essential Basic Needs
•    91 Place: Disrupting generational poverty and chronic homelessness, with a focus on youth
•    Coburn Place: Providing compassionate support and safe housing choices for survivors of domestic violence
•    Dove Recovery House for Women: Expanding women-centered addiction treatment and recovery
•    Grassroot Projects: Basic needs support for immigrant children
•    Immigrant Welcome Center: Meeting basic needs of immigrant community members in Central Indiana
•    New Shoe Day: Providing shoes to youth in need to empower them to thrive
•    Reach for Youth: Affordable mental health services for youth
•    Servants at Work (SAWs) Ramps: Providing freedom to people with permanent disabilities in low-income households through the construction of wheelchair ramps
•    The Patachou Foundation: Expand the PataSchool nutritious food program to more schools
•    Trinity Haven: Providing safe, affirming transitional housing for LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability
•    We Bloom: Increase capacity to provide no-cost, low-barrier, and trauma-informed mental health and recovery support 

Increasing Equitable Economic Mobility
•    Black Leadership + Legacies: Develop & prepare professionals of color for leadership roles
•    Community Alliance of the Far Eastside (CAFE): Develop a Far Eastside Quality of Life plan
•    Dress for Success: Empower women to achieve economic independence and success in their professional lives
•    Indy Reads: Advance social equity through literacy
•    Junior Chefs Academy: Fight food insecurity through education and empowerment
•    Patchwork Indy: Holistic approach to refugee resettlement and immigration in Central Indiana
•    Per Scholas: Advance economic equity through training for tech careers

Closing Education Achievement Gaps
•    Brightlane Learning: Tutoring & academic support for students experiencing homelessness
•    DREAM Alive: Mentoring youth to become civic-minded leaders
•    Exponentia Prime: Closing the math opportunity gap
•    La Plaza: Increase Hispanic & Latino postsecondary credential attainment through the Tu Futuro program
•    MelanatED Leaders: Black teacher mentor program
•    Teach Indy: Reimagining the Teacher Role (RTR) cohort
•    Teach Plus Indiana: Indianapolis Equity Change Agent Network
•    Youth Global Perspectives: Provide immersive cultural experiences through an experiential learning travel program

Supporting a Healthy Democracy
•    Earth Charter Indiana: Expand the Youth Environmental Press Team
•    Indiana Capital Chronicle: Increase & deepen statehouse news coverage
•    Indiana Town Halls: Launch News Indiana to increase Gen Z & Millennial civic engagement
•    Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press: Provide pro bono support to news organizations & journalists through the Indiana Local Legal Initiative
•    The Indiana Citizen: Get Out the Vote digital advertising campaign
•    Women4Change: Provide civic learning & equip Hoosier women to engage in our democracy

Strengthen Jewish Community & Cultural Life
