We are searching for the next Executive Director for Our Community Foundation (OCF) in Daviess County, Indiana. The ideal candidate will bring both development and nonprofit leadership experience while possessing an entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropic heart for the Daviess County community.

As our Executive Director, you will serve as a key leader in Daviess County, responsible for local asset growth and development and collaborating with organizations on community initiatives that contribute to the betterment of the community. You will represent the Foundation on behalf of the Board, building relationships with donors, grant seekers, and organizations. You will be responsible for creating a positive and rewarding experience for donors and prospective donors, ensuring the Foundation will be sustainable and successful in its mission of meeting the changing needs of Daviess County by fostering a culture of local philanthropy.

Job Duties

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attract funds from donors to benefit the community and build a perpetual endowment for grantmaking;
  • Create community awareness of the goals and objectives of Our Community Foundation (Foundation);
  • Administer an office and manage the systems and personnel; maintenance of all financial records; and accountability for funds received and grants administration;
  • Know, understand, and lead the implementation of the strategic plan; and
  • Know, understand, and maintain compliance with state and national standards as described by the Ethical and Operational Standards for Community Foundations and the National Standards for US Community Foundations.

Desired Skills

  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to raise substantial funds from individuals, businesses, private foundations, and other potential contributors.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with Daviess County and the Daviess County community and ability to work effectively with community leaders, donors, and executives of other charitable organizations.
  • Capacity to determine community needs and to evaluate funding requests with patience, open-mindedness, mature judgment, and imagination.
  • Self-discipline, self-starting style, accustomed to working without supervision but capable of supervising and motivating others.
  • A commitment to the philanthropic sector generally and to the betterment of Daviess County.
  • Ability to learn quickly and monitor Foundation activities in a field of complex legislation and regulations.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably with some emphasis and experience in non-profit management, fundraising and/or charitable work, public relations and/or community outreach. Must live in Daviess County or be willing to relocate.

Salary Range: Mid $60s, negotiable based on experience
